Find Cass County Crime News

Cass County crime news shows up in several places. You have the sheriff's bulletins, the local Police and Fire reports, regional TV stories, and unofficial booking databases. Each one tells only part of the story. The sheriff posts announcements, not a live arrest log, and a news photo may just show a patrol car or an agency badge instead of an actual mugshot. The smart path is simple. Start with county government records, figure out the custody stage, and then check Indiana MyCase to follow what the court did with the case.

Official Cass County Arrest Sources First

Start with the agencies themselves. The Cass County Sheriff's Office, the Cass County Jail, and the county's public-information process are the authoritative sources. What you will not find is a browsable roster. There is no same-day feed, no 48-hour or 72-hour list, no weekly log, and no booking-photo gallery on the county's pages. The jail still keeps custody and booking details on hand. It just does not publish them through easy web views.

Need to know who is in custody now? Call the Cass County Jail at (574) 753-7800. For the actual booking record and photo, use the county Public Information Request page. Ask separately for the booking record and the frontal booking photo. The official "Cass County Sheriff, IN" app is reported to include housed-person and recent-bookings features, though its details should be checked in the live app.

Each source answers a different question. A jail response covers someone held now. A booking-record request can reach past bookings too. The Indiana Department of Correction, meanwhile, tracks state-sentenced custody only. It will not include everyone recently arrested in Cass County.

Where Cass County Crime News Appears

Cass County Online runs the strongest free Police and Fire section devoted to the county. It posts selected incidents and agency releases. Busy stretches may bring several at a time. Still, it is not a daily roster. The Pharos-Tribune out of Logansport has Police and Fire coverage plus wider local-news sections. Its reporting is event-driven as well, and some of it sits behind a metered paywall.

Regional stations like WLFI, WTHR, WISH, and WRTV pick up selected major Cass County cases. None keeps a stable Cass-specific blotter or mugshot section. Their stories make good leads. A quiet regional newsroom does not mean no arrest happened. Local radio, WSAL/WLHM, may carry area news too, though it offers no complete booking product.

Check the sheriff's own app and verified agency channels first. Official posts may highlight selected public-safety events. Even so, they can leave out names, get edited, or vanish without notice. They are not an exhaustive custody list.

Cass County News and Mugshot Outlets

The outlet table below splits sources into three tiers: primary government channels, local reporting, and secondary aggregators. A "Photos" label describes observed or reported practice rather than a promise that every story carries an image.

Treat non-government sources with care. They can lag behind, mix up a namesake, keep a dismissed charge on the page, or miss a later correction. Confirm the booking with the sheriff. Then confirm the disposition with the court.

Cass County Online Police and Fire Pattern

Cass County Online's Police and Fire category offers the best free local overview around. Its arrest stories draw on agency releases and lean on scene, agency, or logo images rather than working as a systematic mugshot gallery. Coverage spans Logansport, countywide and multiagency cases, and occasional happenings in smaller towns.

The Cass County local-news screenshot shows that section's layout. It is not a full arrest census.

Spot a name or charge there? Trace it back to the originating agency record, then to MyCase. The story's date matters too. A later filing, dismissal, plea, acquittal, or expungement order can change what stays public.

How Cass County Booking Photos Reach News

An agency can push information out on its own, answer a press request, or produce a record under Indiana's Access to Public Records Act. No mugshot-specific publication statute exists in the current Indiana code. Official access instead runs through Indiana Code chapter 5-14-3, which gives agencies discretion over investigatory records, along with court confidentiality and expungement rules.

A news outlet might get a booking image straight from an agency, request it as a public record, run some other supplied photo, or skip pictures entirely. Cass County's public request page names no booking-photo fee and no guaranteed turnaround. A smart requester identifies the person and approximate date, asks separately for the intake record and frontal photograph, requests electronic delivery, and gets an estimate before any chargeable work begins.

Editorial habits differ too. Cass County Online tends toward event and agency imagery. Pharos-Tribune stories may use agency, scene, file, or occasional suspect photos. And a headline that says "mugshots" somewhere else proves nothing. It may not match Cass County or a current case at all.

From Cass County Story to Record

Pull a thread on any report and follow it to the official record. That is how you tell a fresh booking apart from current custody and a final court outcome.

  1. Note the full name, incident date, arresting agency, and any cause or booking number in the story.
  2. Check the Cass County booking and feed channels. Call the jail for present custody or inspect the verified live sheriff app rather than assuming a news subject remains held.
  3. Request the booking record and photograph from the county when the official document is needed. A released person can disappear from a custody view while the retained booking record may remain requestable.
  4. Search Indiana MyCase by name or cause number, narrow to Cass County, and compare lawful identifiers.
  5. Read the chronological case summary, charges, hearings, bond events, orders, and disposition. Contact the Cass County Clerk for access questions when the public docket is unclear.

Cass County Booking Feed Gaps

Cass County has no confirmed online booking archive. That covers same-day, 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, weekly, and longer spans. The sheriff described an app feature for recent bookings in an interview. He never pinned down its time window or photo policy. So nobody can honestly promise that everyone arrested "today" shows up in one predictable spot.

There was more news in March 2026. The Sheriff announced a daily bulletin fed by CAD dispatch data. It was still being debugged and was flatly described as not real time. A calls-for-service bulletin logs dispatched activity. That is a different animal from jail admissions or arrests. If it ever launches, check the dates and fields carefully before reading any call as a booking.

Logansport Police does offer a Daily LPD Activity Log. It costs $0.25 as a records copy. No online daily window exists. That product tracks police activity, while the Cass County Jail and the sheriff app track custody. The same line separates Logansport Busted Mugshots from Galveston and Walton coverage.

Unofficial Cass County Mugshot Sources

Third-party mugshot sites trail the official channels. Their records are copies. Some sit stale for weeks. Still, a few carry useful detail. On August 21, 2026, Recently Booked listed 96 Cass County records billed as a 30-day span, paginated at 16 cards with a last-update stamp. Those figures and refresh promises come from that publisher alone, never from the sheriff.

Arrests.org's Cass landing offered more to work with. It had a name search, photo cards, booking dates and times, listed charges, and occasional bond details, plus year archives. Access can be blocked, and the site itself disclaims accuracy. Mugshots.com's Cass page looked dated or abandoned. That makes it a poor source for recent bookings.

Busted Newspaper is a different story. Its expected local URL returned a 404. Its taxonomy skipped Cass County entirely. Mugshots.zone had no qualifying Cass page either. Treat these as absences observed at one point, not permanent facts, and never swap in a generic homepage or another state's Cass County.

Cass County Disposition and Custody Checks

Court records live with the Cass County Clerk, headed by Clerk Destry Richey. The office sits at 200 Court Park, Room 407, Logansport, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at (574) 753-7740. Backlogs shape how fast requests get filled, so count on anything but a same-day answer.

When a sentence moves someone into state custody, the Indiana Department of Correction offender search is the right tool. It can return state status, location, and an offender photo where one exists, though it is not a feed of fresh Cass County arrests. For custody-status alerts on covered cases, Indiana SAVIN fits better. Each source answers its own question.

Namesakes trip people up. Stale charges do too. Match more than one lawful identifier, keep the source and retrieval date, and label the stage precisely: arrested, booked, charged, dismissed, acquitted, or convicted.
